What my novel will be about

Stay on the sunny side, always on the sunny side
Stay on the sunny side of life (Yee-haw!)
We’ll give you no pain as we drive you insane
So stay on the sunny side of life!

Maybe the best way to describe what Stay on the Sunny Side is about is that it’s about learning to deal with life, even when yours has been turned upside-down.  Both the protagonists have had a recent major life change prior to the start of the story: Chamomile “Cammie” Passerini, a shy, wallflower-type, is moving on her own halfway across the country to help take care of her spunky but aging grandmother while leaving behind the few friends she had; Blake Marshall, the school’s new basketball star, also moved halfway across the country… after losing his entire family in an incident that turned him into a vampire.

Their meeting under unusual circumstances sets off a chain of events that make Cammie a group of interesting friends and Blake a reason to keep getting up in the morning.  However, while Blake may technically be dead, his past isn’t… and when the vector that infected him returns to claim him, it’s up to Cammie and her newfound friends (and confidence) to save him from the eternal night.

Oh, and the Final Showdown takes place at prom.  With weaponry improvised from the gym storage closet.  And a werebird.  (It’s a high school vampire book.  It has to be just slightly ridiculous.)
